BNBL VISA Credit Card

If you are frustrated about carrying a big wad of cash while traveling, nervous about theft or about misplacing it, and embarrassed while paying for dinner with your business associates in cash, we have the solution. In January 2005, we launched Bhutan’s first globally accepted Gold Visa Credit Cards. Now, the one we issue is fully EMV compliant and is accepted at tens of millions of locations worldwide, be it for shopping or dining.*

Before you use your credit card, please make sure you have activated it, by generating a Green PIN from a BNB ATM nearest to you.

For more details, visit the nearest BNB office.

Our VISA cards are accepted for online transactions, as long as you do not save the card on the eComm site.

It is not a safe practice to save card details on any eComm site, and BNBL does not recommend it.

How to Apply:

  • Pick up a credit card application form (a pdf version is available HERE)
  • Fill it up and submit it to the nearest BNBL branch/extension office. It should be accompanied by all the documents (checklist of the required documents is on the form). Once the full set is received by us, we conduct a credit check with the other financial institutions before beginning the credit process.
  • After approval, you will be required to complete the documentation as required by the Credit Department. Thereafter, the card is printed and you will be informed to collect it from the branch/extension nearest to you.
  • The card is issued for an initial period of 5 (five years) and renewed if required
  • We issue a single card that works both for INR and USD
